Posters for a group computer illustration project (I did the logo too!)
for the second one, text would go at the bottom and at the top under the logo. the text I had before included the Cartoon Network logo (for purposes of the presentation) so I decided to remove it.

Our group was assigned to come up with a pitch for a fictional kids show, video game, or movie based loosely on the concept of the three little pigs. Our group did a kids show! we took the concept waaaay out there (in space!) and I think we may have gotten a bit complicated but the project was so much fun to do regardless!

first try at Painter, self portrait

I had a lot of fun doing the hair. Found an interesting tutorial online and used mostly the acrylic brushes for the hair, pastels for the face.  the crazed look is intentional (heh)

two different variations of Thiel's infamous assignment "La Musica" one with text and one without.

a mock "pulp" cover (for children?). the chupacabra strikes again! (as always, I could go back and make some changes)

This is Mr. Felix Foxworth. He enjoys reading and learning new things. He is quite a classy fellow and always dresses well.

Candy Foxtrot (and random fox sketches). she is quite the vixen. maybe she has a thing for Mr. Foxworth? I may have referenced Audrey Hepburn in her design

I went through a bunch of scribbling variations with this scary looking bear (scare bear!) he went from a slobbering redneck bear to this: a maybe psycho mercenary bear with a taste for booze. The chains around his ankles? maybe he was a circus bear too? who knows

some beach sketches

Mr. Charlie playing his viola

the last sketch was inspired by reading a section of James Gurney's book Color and Light: a Guide for the Realist Painter about storyboarding a day in your life "serial painting". I bought the book recently and I think EVERY aspiring artist/illustrator should consider buying it. EVERYONE!

sketches from South Africa!

While on my trip I sketched a bit, I might color some of these digitally or play around with them some more.

I also got an illustrated book from a South African gift shop that is worth noting: Alphabet of Democracy by Anton Kannemeyer.

I picked up this book for the illustrations and I knew from the cover that it would be political in some way. The illustrations poke fun at South Africa's turbulent history

the illustrator and author Anton Kannemeyer is fairly famous in South Africa and created a famous comic called BitterKomix. Check him out!
